Canvey Island
Pride in Place funding
In March 2024, Canvey Island was selected by the Government as a recipient of £20million of regeneration funding, over 10 years, as part of the Pride in Place programme.
The programme has three strategic objectives:
- Thriving Places
- Stronger Communities
- Taking Back Control
To deliver this funding, a Neighbourhood Board was established to represent local people. Through ongoing consultation, they have prepared a Regeneration Plan and vision which outlines local priorities and proposed interventions. You can follow the progress of the Pride in Place programme on its webpage (coming soon).
This is an exciting opportunity for Canvey Island to improve local areas and facilities, support community priorities, and make it an even better place to live.

Canvey Seafront
A master plan approach

Any future Master Plan would consider how public spaces in this area could be best utilised and how key features and historical assets should be protected.

Hadleigh Town Centre
A master plan approach
The Draft Castle Point Plan (2026 – 2043) proposes a Master Plan approach to the future regeneration and investment in Hadleigh Town Centre.
There is significant opportunity for regeneration in Hadleigh ‘s Town Centre. There are key vacant sites, which could be utilised, as part of a wider Master Plan approach and in consultation with the local community, to provide new homes, new patterns of retail and usages to create an even more vibrant and accessible offer.
A visioning exercise was completed in 2024 as the first steps to a renewed approach to the Town Centre. One outcome of this work was the introduction of the Hadleigh Shopfront Grant Programme. This programme utilises funding from the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund and seeks to contribute to a visually improved town centre, increased footfall and the creation of a higher quality urban environment.
