Council visits art exhibition to see works from around the community

Last week, Councillors and officers from Castle Point Borough Council visited the This is Us exhibition held at Hadleigh Old Fire Station to view the wide variety of art works created by a range of groups in the community.
Local residents, including children and young people, collaborated with local artists to explore what they love about living in Castle Point, and what they may want to see protected, improved or changed.
Attending the exhibition alongside Council officers, Cllr Tim Copsey and Cllr Kate Knott were delighted to view the pieces.
Cllr Tim Copsey said:
“The art works are amazing and show the depth and breadth of creativity in Castle Point. They also show us the passion people have for their local area, and what these people envisage Castle Point to be like in the future. This will help us when we are thinking about the projects and services we deliver.”
Cllr Kate Knott also commented on the visit, saying:
“The creativity of the groups who came together to create the artwork was amazing and should be celebrated. It was great to see how positive the outcomes were for those involved, and wonderful to see even the youngest people in our community taking part to show the appreciation of the outdoors in their art.”
There is still time to view this exhibition as it moves in the Borough. You can view it at the Knightswick Centre, Canvey Island from now until Sunday 9 February.
This is Us is a UKSPF funded project being delivered in partnership between Castle Point Borough Council, Metal and Estuary Festival.
