New CCTV Network for the Borough

At the Cabinet meeting held on 19 February 2025, a report on the Council’s new CCTV Network was presented to Members.

The report provided an update on progress following the Council’s successful grant application to the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC), as part of the PFCC’s Local Safer Streets Fund.

Cllr Russell Savage, Portfolio Holder for People and Community, said: “The next important steps for this project include agreeing the terms of the funding agreement between the Council and the PFCC.
“It is important that this work now progresses at pace as it will ensure the strategic placement of new cameras in areas prone to anti-social behaviour and violence and act as a deterrent to crime, as well as providing valuable evidence for police use.”
Cllr David Blackwell, Leader of Castle Point Borough Council, added: “Receiving this grant of £1.1 million is an incredible opportunity for the Council and will transform the CCTV provision across the Borough, ensuring we can enhance the safety and welfare of our residents and communities.”

The Cabinet meeting was recorded and is available to watch on YouTube.
