New Wellbeing Programme aims to make residents happier and more active

A six-week Wellbeing Programme will run from Monday 17 February to Friday 28 March. It is free to join and sessions will run at both Waterside Farm Leisure Centre in Canvey and Runnymede Leisure Centre in Benfleet.
There are sessions for all fitness levels including gentle and low-impact activities aimed at seniors and residents with mobility issues. There are also sessions for toddlers and children.
Sessions on offer include:
- Chair Yoga – a modified form of yoga that involves practising poses and breathing exercises while seated or using a chair for support
- Walk and Dance Fit – a gentle workout to the best sounds from the 60s, 70s and 80s
- Calm Flow – breathing and meditation practice which combines mindfulness and relaxation
- Social Badminton – non-competitive badminton aimed at meeting new people, getting active and having fun
- Menopause Workout – gentle strength and conditioning class aimed at helping participants to manage menopause and perimenopause symptoms
- Kids Punchercise – combat and boxing style class aimed at children aged 8-16
- Adult Punchercise – a combination of gentle cardiovascular health, strength training and cognitive function exercises, all wrapped into one engaging workout
- Strollercise - a dance-based, low impact, fitness class suitable for all abilities and fitness levels
- Little Sprogs – fun movement and play session encouraging movement and interaction
- Story Time & Play with Magic Molly – a session designed to take your child on a magical adventure filled with singing, playing and enchanting stories
- Adult Water Confidence – relaxed swimming session aimed at improving swimming skills and making friends
The Programme is offered to anyone living in Castle Point who needs support in becoming more active, building friendships and improving physical and mental wellbeing. All sessions are free of charge and there is no obligation to commit to regular participation or to subscribe to membership.
Cllr Rob Lillis, Castle Point Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Housing said: “Whether you are looking to get more active, make new friends or improve your mental health, there is something on offer for all ages and for all levels of fitness.
