Statement: Housing Improvement Programme

Councillor Rob Lillis, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Housing said: “We are committed to ensuring that our homes provide our tenants with safe and warm places to live.

“This is why we have published our Housing Improvement Programme which sets out how we plan to continue to improve the service we provide to all tenants living in our homes.

“We know there is work we have to do to improve the service we provide to our tenants. This is also shown by the findings of the Regulator for Social Housing who provided our housing service with a C3 rating meaning that there are significant issues which need to be addressed.

“Obviously in the past the Council hasn’t got everything right, and I want to apologise to our tenants for this. However, I want to reassure them that we are committed to learning from the Regulator’s findings and improving our service.

“If agreed at November’s Cabinet, our Housing Improvement Programme will set the direction of the journey towards achieving our ambition. I will be writing to all of our tenants setting out our plans and how we will work closely with them to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.”
