The Paddocks Centre set to reopen following £2.3m refurbishment

The Paddocks Centre, a vital community hub in Canvey Island, is set to reopen March 17th following a significant £2.3 million refurbishment. The extensive renovation project has modernized the well-used facility, ensuring it remains a valuable asset for the local community for years to come.

The refurbishment has encompassed improvements to both the interior and exterior of the building. Key upgrades include:

  • Full electrical rewire
  • Drainage works
  • Lower roof ductwork
  • Fire protection work
  • Upgraded electrics, heating, lighting, and ventilation systems

These improvements will provide a more comfortable, safe, and efficient environment for all users of the centre.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Dave Blackwell expressed his delight at the project’s near completion, stating: “We are pleased to be near the completion of this project.

Our residents deserve to have a local centre that can serve the community well, and this renovated centre will do just that. The investment will ensure that The Paddocks remains an important asset for the Borough for the future.”

Portfolio Holder for Special Projects & Assets, Cllr Tom Gibson echoed this sentiment, adding:

"We are incredibly excited about the reopening of The Paddocks. This substantial investment reaffirms the Council's commitment to providing high-quality facilities for our community. We believe the newly refurbished centre will be a fantastic resource for residents of all ages and backgrounds, and we look forward to seeing it bustling with activity once again."

The reopening of The Paddocks Centre marks a significant milestone for the Canvey Island community, providing a modern and versatile space for a wide range of activities and events.

A grand reopening celebration will be held in the near future at the centre.
