Waterside Farm Leisure Centre Embraces Solar Energy

Waterside Farm Leisure Centre is demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability by installing solar panels on its roof. This initiative is projected to generate an estimated 33,244 kWh of clean energy annually, resulting in a significant CO2 saving of 64,186 kg per year equivalent to a saving of over 30% of the total electrical usage of Waterside Farm Leisure Centre.
The project was part funded by Sport England’s Swimming Pool Support Fund with a £98,800 grant being the significant contribution to a total project cost of £144,628 making this a fantastic investment for Castle Point Borough Council.
"This is a great step forward in making Castle Point a greener space," said Cllr Tom Gibson, portfolio holder for special projects.
"The installation of solar panels at Waterside Farm Leisure Centre demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. We are excited about the positive impact this will have on the environment and the community."
The solar panel installation underscores the centre's dedication to reducing its environmental impact and contributing to a more sustainable future. This project will significantly reduce the centre's reliance on traditional energy sources, promoting cleaner energy and lowering its carbon footprint.
Castle Point Borough Council is proud to be taking proactive measures to enhance the sustainability of its facilities and looks forward to the positive environmental impact of this project.
