Single Person Discount Review

We are currently sending out letters regarding “COUNCIL TAX – SINGLE PERSON DISCOUNT REVIEW” with a return address of PO Box 11326, Nottingham, NG1 9RE. The letter will be addressed to you from the Revenues Manager. If you have received one of these letters, please follow the instructions on the letter to complete the review and do not complete the below form.

However, if you have received a Single Person Discount review addressed to you from the Compliance Team, please complete the form below.

 

We are carrying out a review of Council Tax Single Person's Discounts currently in place across the borough, as required to by law. The purpose of this review is to protect public funds and ensure the discount is only awarded to those who are entitled. If you have recently received either a letter, email or text message it is because our records show that you have been receiving a 25% discount in your Council Tax bill as you are the sole adult occupant of your property.

 

We are committed to keeping Council Tax to a minimum level by making sure:

  • everyone receives the discounts they are entitled to
  • discounts are awarded to the appropriate people

 

To make sure you receive the correct discount and pay the correct amount of Council Tax, please complete the online single person discount review below. Failure to complete this form within 14 days of our request may result in your discount being cancelled.

Any information you provide, including dates, may be verified using credit reference agency data and investigations carried out.

  • You must always tell the Council if your circumstances change - this includes telling us about any other people that live at your address. Failure to inform the Council of a change in circumstances may result in you being charged a penalty.
  • If we identify that other people live at your address and you have not told us about them, we may contact them directly as part of any investigation.
