Once you have submitted your Application for photo ID it will go through a verification process. If further information is required we will contact you using the details you have provided in your application. If you do not provide contact details we will write to you at your registered address.
The Voter Authority Certificate will be sent via post to the address where you are registered to vote. If you need to collect your Voter Authority Certificate in person at the council offices we will ask you to provide us with a reason why. Please note that someone will not be allowed to collect your certificate on your behalf, applicants must be able to collect their Voter Authority Certificate themselves.
Once issued your Voter Authority Certificate will be an A4 paper document and will contain:
Please keep this safe and bring it along with you on polling day to be able to vote. You will need to keep this safe for any future elections.
Voter Authority Certificates do not have an expiration date. But it's recommended that you renew your certificate after 10 years.
All data you provide when applying for a certificate will be stored securely by us in line with data protection regulations.
