Completion of sustainable housing development in Canvey Island

Castle Point Borough Council is proud to announce the completion of two modern, semi‑detached family homes on the site of former garages in Benderloch Gardens, Canvey Island.

Each of the newly built properties features three bedrooms and tenants will also benefit from generous outdoor space and lockable sheds with secure bike storage.

In line with the growing demand for eco‑friendly living, they are equipped with Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) technology, providing efficient underfloor heating throughout. Both homes include electric vehicle charging points and solar panels supplying renewable electricity to the properties.

By transforming the site of former garages into high‑quality housing, this development has revitalised the local area while delivering modern and affordable homes. Both properties will be ready for occupation before Christmas.

The Council is also pleased to confirm that five additional properties are currently under construction across Canvey Island and Benfleet, all on under‑used garage sites. This demonstrates Castle Point Borough Council’s ongoing commitment to utilising brownfield land for development and increasing the provision of affordable housing across the Borough.
