Introduction

Castle Point Borough Council ("the Council") have designed a Council Housing Lift Safety Policy with the safety of our tenants at the core.

A safety first approach

The Council will inspect all lifts and lifting equipment such as passenger lifts, hoists and stairlifts, in all tenants’ homes, and all communal areas.  We will not check any lifts or lifting equipment in leaseholders’ homes.

Compliance with LOLER

Ensuring equipment is installed, serviced and used in accordance with LOLER and other relevant regulations.

Thorough Examinations

The Council will appoint a competent contractor to carry out regular inspections of lifting equipment and produce a report for us on the condition. The Council will follow up on any identified defects.  All reports will be stored on our IT system.

Tenant’s responsibilities

Tenants are expected to report repairs and grant access when requested by the Council or one of our contractors.
If you have any concerns about any lifting equipment in your home or communal area please contact us by:
