Introduction

Castle Point Borough Council ("the Council") have designed a Council Housing Gas Safety Policy with the safety of our tenants at the core.

A safety first approach

As a landlord, keeping our tenants safe in their homes is the most important thing we do.

A gas safety service for our tenants

We will carry out a service every 12 months to ensure everything is working correctly.
During the service, we’ll check the safety of your appliances to help prevent hazards and minimise the chance of breakdowns.

Giving us access to complete the annual gas check

We'll need someone to be in your home over the age of 18 during the service. It could be you, an occupant or a trusted friend, neighbour or family member.
We appreciate your help in allowing us access to your home.

What about leaseholders?

As a leaseholder it is your responsibility to ensure that your gas boiler is serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer.  It is important you have your gas appliances serviced annually as it not only ensures you are safe, but it helps to keep your neighbours safe too.

A Leaseholder struggling to find a Gas Safe registered engineer?

You can visit the Gas Safe Register and search by your postcode, you’ll find a list a qualified engineers who are suitable to assist you with your gas service.
